Searching for a Rural Property or Project

Aquitaine Invest specialises in helping clients acquire working farms, or former farmhouses with some land.
Working closely with our partners SAFER (a French government-controlled public-interest company responsible for supporting agriculture, promoting rural development and protecting the environment) we conduct a focused search for properties and projects that meet a client’s precise requirements.

Many of the properties we have access to may not be available with other agents on the open market.
We will ask you to complete a detailed application form so we can work effectively on your behalf.
There are no up-front charges for our service, and no fees payable unless a transaction proceeds to completion. Our remuneration is by way of sales commission, so you will be able to negotiate on the basis of the advertised purchase price including selling agents’ commission in the usual way.

What is there not to like about South West France?

Food and Drink

Let’s start with one of the most important facets of life. If you’ve already visited the region we’ll be preaching to the converted. If not, don’t wait any longer to experience the fantastic range of fresh produce of all descriptions, pâtés and confits, mouth-watering crusty bread, patisseries … all found in the local towns and markets. Last but not least, let’s not forget the fine appellation contrôlée and vin de pays wines – taste before you buy at the cave coopérative or many vineyards in the region.

Environment

There’s immense space and room to breathe : with so little traffic on the roads it’s a pleasure to drive around and explore. In the wine-growing regions, the combination of old stones and vine-covered slopes is magical. Remarkably preserved bastide towns are dotted about the countryside, giving plenty of scope for days out. For shopping expeditions Bordeaux, Biarritz and Toulouse are the major centres for an indulgent weekend or two. Oh, and not forgetting the magnificent Pyrenees, the forests of Les Landes, the Rivers Dordogne, Lot and Garonne, the beaches on the Atlantic coast …

Climate

Average temperatures in the Aquitaine region range from 10°C in January to 25°C in August. Summer temperatures sometimes hit 35°C plus and the region is by no means exempt from wintry cold snaps. The sunshine and quality of light throughout the year are superb - superb for painters and photographers.

Property Prices

However banal it may be, the question of price is, of course, critical to any decision to buy. Property and land prices in the South West are generally more reasonable than those found nearer the Mediterranean coast. And if you want to spend a day or two by the sea, the Bassin d’Arcachon and Atlantic beaches are never too far away.
