The Area
The Charente is traditional, rural and relaxed. It has pretty rivers, lakes with sandy beaches, wonderful chateaux, unspoilt rolling countryside and a warm climate, being the second sunniest region in France. Property prices are 20% lower than the national average, making the area affordable and there are some great value, traditional properties to be had. It is a great time to invest in the region, as prices are set to rise over the next few years, with the opening of the airport at Angoulême, making the area even more accessible, with flights into Limoges, Poitiers and La Rochelle as well.
