The company was established back in 1987 by its present proprietor under the name of French Property Services and based in Huelgoat central Finistere. In the early days its sole and unique role was to assist British potential buyers in their hunt for their dream cottage in Brittany. Since these humble beginnings it has become evident that the finding and negotiating of property, is really only a small part of what is required by the majority of French property owners. This being the case in the years that followed the company became more and more aware, that extra services were required to satisfy the needs of their ever-growing clientele. |

In the early days its sole and unique role was to assist potential British buyers in their hunt for their dream cottage in Brittany. Since these humble beginnings it has become evident that the finding and negotiating of property, is really only a small part of what is required by the majority of British French property owners. This being the case in the years that followed the company became more and more aware, that extra services were required to satisfy the needs of their ever-growing clientele.
The first step was to organise a selection of local builders and tradesman in whom one could have complete confidence, not only their punctuality but also their workmanship. This was quickly achieved although it required a good deal of "weeding out" to establish a group of competent and reliable workers whom one could propose without the slightest of doubt. One will always come across the friendly French handyman "François" in the local bar, who insists they are more than competent to do your work and with a small deposit will start immediately. The first few days the work gets underway and then no news and François disappears, your jobs half done and the majority of the deposit in his pocket!!!
The next step was to help the courageous do-it-yourself man. The British are well known for their desire to renovate old properties. One of the many problems in France is that the majority of people are not only unfamiliar with the equivalent French terms for materials, but don't know where to find them. This being the case our company set up a deal with local builders merchants where the client could either go to the depot and help themselves or telephone our office and we would organise delivery of all required materials.
The great advantage of this system is, our clients prices are exactly the same as those paid by the general public, a months delay of payment, no hassle in trying to explain what one wants and probably the most popular, materials can be delivered ready for the impending arrival of owners or builders, ready to start work. A real time saver.
At this point with the added commercial services, the company became "French Property & Commercial Services". The next step in its evolution was the possibility to organise finance from the local French bank We also then began to take on work from clients who had not originally purchased through us but were in need of legal assistance, due to problems arising from such things as divorces and deaths etc. Through our close relations with the local notaire, we are more than able to assist with such work.
The company has recently been taken under the wing of the "KERNOW" group and is now concentrating more on the consultancy side and after sales services.
