9. Statutory Surveys for a French Rental Property
9.2. Energy Performance Survey - Diagnostic de Performance EnergétiqueA report on the energy performance, (called diagnostic de performance énergétique), of the property is required to give the future tenant some idea of the likely energy consumption and heating costs.
As with the report on risks, this regulation applies, not only to properties let on an annual basis, but also to seasonal lettings, provided the property is let for at least four months in the year. In relation to seasonal lettings the owner escapes the obligation if the property is let for less than four months of the year. This period applies to the totality of the lettings over a year, not the duration of a single letting.
