Financial Assistance for a New Business

If you are thinking of relocating to France and you propose to set up your own business, then you may be able to get relief on the payment of heavy social security contributions. A business in France pays at least a third of net profits in social security contributions. However, if you are on the French unemployment register, and later decide to set up your own business, you can obtain relief from most social security contributions for up to two years. Whilst you would only be entitled to receive unemployment benefit if you had an employment record in France, you are still entitled to enter your name on the unemployment register. Provided you have been on the register for at least six months, as a business start-up you are then entitled to obtain relief on the payment of social security contributions. If you want to know more about how this policy operates, or about setting up and running your own business in France, then you can read more by visiting our FREE Guide to Starting a Business in France.
