Most Famous French Ski Resorts

As we said before, France is a mecca for ski enthusiasts. There are four major French ski areas: Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys), L'Espace Killy (The Espace Killy), Les Portes du soleil and Paradiski.

The Trois Vallées area is one of the biggest ski resorts of the world!

The ski resort Les trois Vallées is located in Savoie, in the Rhône-Alpes region. It includes Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens. Tignes and Val d’Isère ski resorts make up the Espace Killy ski area.

The Portes du soleil ski area is composed of Morzine, Avoriaz, Châtel, Abondance, Les Gets, Champery and Torgon.

The area called Paradiski is split into 5 ski spots: la Plagne, les Arcs, Espace San Bernardo, Chamonix and Armentière. Those important ski resorts are set at the foot of the European highest mountain, Mont Blanc (4807m).

Other ski resorts such as Alpes d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes, located in the Isère departement, are also renowned.

Pyrenees and Andorra ski resorts are good alternatives to the French Alps. Even if the Pyrenean areas are increasingly trendy, they boast smaller resorts and less crowd - that would definitely allow you to take the most of the slopes and reliable snow conditions!

The perfect skier’s check list: skis, poles and ski clothes of course, but also gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen cream and lip balm, ski helmet, thermos, sandwiches, water and camera.
