Burgundy Traditional Houses and Architecture

Burgundy is a region of France where stone dominates as a construction material. The traditional properties’ like the farmhouses, half-timbered and winegrowers’ houses have walls painted in warm colours and boast massive dimensions.

In the north flat tiles or lauze are used while in the south, tiles can be seen. In the vineyard areas around Beaune and Dijon many gorgeous decorated tiles can be seen on bourgeois houses. Another distinctive sign of Burgundy traditional properties are the lucarnes, small dormer windows often decorated. Click below to learn more about Burgundy's traditional architecture.
