Languedoc Roussillon Weather and Climate

  • The Languedoc Roussillon French region, located in the south of France is renowned for its dry and warm climate throughout the year especially for its mild winters and really hot summers.
  • Languedoc Roussillon is lined along its southern side by the Mediterranean Sea. This is the reason why Languedoc region soaks in sweetness and warmth all year long.
  • Languedoc Rousssillon benefits from 2,506 sunshine hours a year but despite its warmth and dryness this region presents different climate areas. Indeed, because of its difference of relief some departments like Lozère can get really cold and snowy winters whilst along the coast wearther is quite mild.
  • The Languedoc Roussillon region is a dry region of France, rainfalls are rare but can be really violent. This Mediterranean climate encourages the growth of plants like lavender thanks to the numerous sunshine hours.
  • As you notice in the average temperatures table below, the temperature is mild during winter months. There are also cooler spring and autumn months whilst summer is pleasantly warm all along the Mediterranean coast.
