Pays de la Loire Economy

In the last decade, the economy of the French region Pays de la Loire has known a general increase.

The region is the fifth of France when it comes to population and GDP.

Very present in the food-industry (3rd of France) with 51% of the meat meat production or 19% for the milk. Indeed, 67% of its territory is used for agriculture purposes.

From one urban area to the other, there are only 49km separating Nantes and Rennes, and the other large urban areas of the region are all close to each other, which definitely help improving economic transactions.

Nevertheless some branches of the regions economy (such as industry, property building or tourism) have had problems with providing new jobs or even with keeping pre-existing employment.

But on the whole, the general economic trend of the Pays de la Loire region is quite similar to the economic situation of France.


Pays de la Loire has an unemployment rate of 5.8%.

This region also offer financial and physical support for people in need such as elderly people, disabled people, unemployed people...
