Pays de la Loire Travel by Sea, Canals and Rivers

Pays de la Loire boasts an access to the sea, to an estuary and to canals and rivers at the same time. Thus this network is much used: ferry crossings, canals and rivers can be used to travel.

Mains Harbours
Saint-Nazaire and Pornic harbours offer the opportunity for boats to dock close to city centre. You can easily reach Brittany via Ferry and then Pays de La Loire is less than an hour drive.

Canals Network
Canal from Nantes to Brest, Mayenne Canal are used for touristic itineraries and freight transportation. You can esaily find cheap travel opportunities to discover the region at a different pace.

There is no ferry port in Pays de la Loire. The nearest is:
In Brittany: Roscoff from Plymouth via Brittany Ferries or St Malo from Poole via Condor Ferries.
