Rhone Alpes Hotels
On a national scale, Rhône-Alpes ranks first regarding the number of visitors and along with Ile de France and Provence Alpes Côtes d’Azur represents half of the national hotel offer.
- The region accounts for 3,045 holiday furnished flats, 4,257 homologated camp sites and 23,340 homologated hotels amongst which 257 are ranked. Half of the latter have 2 stars, followed by the 3 star category.
- Tourism in the region is focused on ski holidays, nature parks but also urban tourism with plenty of cultural activities on offer. Different types of accommodations are to be found depending on the chosen location. In the mountains, chalets rentals are predominant, the most classic accommodations in the countryside are self-catering cottages as well as guesthouses while hotels are more numerous in town centres.
- Most of the accommodation offer is not surprisingly located in the mountainous areas. Departments have not the same potential in terms of both attractivity and facilities, as Haute-Savoie and Savoie are in the lead while Loire somewhat lags behind.
- If you plan to spend some time in the most popular departments, bear in mind that the demand is high then you should book in advance.
