Description

The house has a large main downstairs area which is the kitchen/ dining/living area. It is fully equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, stove, microwave, two small fridges, a freezer, crockery and cutlery. The lounge is furnished with comfortable chairs and a couch and there is a CD player.
The house sleeps 7 people. Upstairs there is a very large main bedroom which has a big cupboard. There is a double bed in this room but it can take a single bed if needed. There is a desk/office area in the main bedroom where the internet connection can be set up.
There is a second bedroom on this floor which has two single beds in it. There is a bathroom with toilet on this first floor. The second floor is the loft which is large with sloping ceilings - it has a double bed and a single bed. There is a video up in the loft which is useful for rainy days. There is a second bathroom and toilet as an ensuite on one end of the loft. Linen and towels are provided.
As it is over 600 years old, the house has very thick outer walls so it is relatively cool during the very hot months of summer.
Opposite the front door is the 'pigpen' which includes a storeroom and a little courtyard which is ideal for barbecues. There is an undeveloped garden too where you can park although there is plenty of parking available in front of the old mill across the road.
Issigeac is really in a wonderful position - besides the beautiful countryside (walking, hiking and cycling routes abound) and the wine route, it is not far from the Dordogne river and all the activities, like canoeing and kayaking, that you can do in summer. The area has a rich history and so there are wonderful villages and chateaux to visit. On a practical note, Issigeac itself offers half a dozen restaurants, two supermarkets, three bakeries and a wonderful market on a Sunday. The village has all the essentials – post office, bank, doctor, dentist, chemist, hairdresser. Although the house is in the village, it is amazingly quiet even when there is a fête going on in the main street. The nearest large town is Bergerac (about 20kms away) and flights arrive there direct from the UK. The airport is about 20 minutes from Issigeac.
