Description

A fully restored 6 bedroom property ideally suited to provide bed and breakfast accommodation. The property was built in the 15th century and is situated in a small village in the department of Allier. Much of the village including the church dates back as far as the 11th century.
The house is 8 minutes from the Tronçais Forest, one of Frances largest oak forests dating back to the 16th century. The village sits equidistant between the large towns of Moulins to the east and Montluçon to the south west. Both offering everything expected by today’s tourist and serviced by first class roads. Three minutes takes you to Cérilly with its modern supermarket and an array of smaller shops, including a chemist, hairdresser, several clothes shops, gift & souvenir shop and even a brocanté plus others, several garages, police station (Gendarmerie) cover most other needs. The local Hotel has a good restaurant. There is a newly built skate park for the youngsters, tennis courts and every French village seems to have a football pitch. Fifteen minutes takes you to Bourbon l’Archambault a Spa town, famous for treatment of rheumatic problems, with an even wider array of shops. Superb outdoor swimming pool and a ruined medieval fortress where they have son et lumière shows in summer.
40 minutes north east takes you to Magny Cours home of the French Grand prix.
Five to six hours driving from the port of Caen on the North coast will bring you here or if you choose to fly into Paris an SNCF train will bring you to Moulins. You can also fly into Clermont-Ferrand (one hours drive) or St Etienne (two and a quarter hours drive)
.
The atmosphere in this part of France is very calm and relaxing and the people are extremely helpful and friendly.
The weather is usually hot in the summer and quite cold in winter although winter does not seem to last as long as the UK.
It had long been the dream of the current owners to run a bed and breakfast business but due to ill health they cannot finalise that dream. However the property is perfect for someone who shares this dream. Otherwise it makes a lovely large family home in a wonderful part of the country.
