Traditional Stone House

This traditional stone house has been lovingly restored, resulting in a successful mix of traditional features and modern, light, open plan living. It has a secluded and peaceful setting, in a small hamlet adjacent to forests, in the heart of the Oust valley, an area of great natural beauty. It is a few minutes drive from the pretty and popular town of La Gacilly, and only 45 minutes from the beautiful beaches of southern Brittany.

The house offers 200 m² of living accommodation comprising:

• Large open plan living area with exposed stone walls, oak beams, terracotta tiles and a large open fireplace. The lounge area of the room has a double height ceiling, overlooked by a mezzanine area on the first floor. The room also hosts a fully equipped kitchen area and there is plenty of room for a full size dining table and chairs.


• The large summer room has one double height wall made entirely of glass, allowing light to flood in. This room also overlooks and provides access to the terrace area and the garden. This room also features exposed stone walls and terracotta tiles.


• There is a large office / games room which is linked to both the living area and the summer room.


• 4 double bedrooms, one of which is located in an independent guest area (see below).


• The upstairs also features a walk in dressing room and ample built in wardrobe space.


• 2 bathrooms, both with bath and shower, one with Jacuzzi bath. 2 ground floor cloakrooms.


• The south wing of the house features independent guest quarters with bedroom, lounge / kitchenette and private decked terrace area.


• Tiling and underfloor heating throughout ground floor and all windows are double glazed.

The house is set in 4000m² of land comprising:

• Large terrace area overlooking garden, accessed from the summer room


• To the side and front of the house is a mature secluded garden with established trees and flower beds. There is also an above ground swimming pool, pump house and garden shed.


• To the front of the house is a small field, with numerous fruit trees, vegetable garden and greenhouse.


• A large stone garage has room for one car plus workshop area.


• Numerous outbuildings including a small stone outbuilding currently used as a wood store and a large ruin (still featuring the original fireplace and chimney).

Local area:

• The house is situated in a small hamlet surrounded by lakes, forest and farmland. A network of forest paths begins at the end of the field.


• The village of Glenac is only 2 km away and has a school and 2 bars, one of which sells fresh bread. There is a short cut into Glenac leading through the forest and across farmland tracks.


• Glenac also has a quiet port, offering a departure point for canal boating holidays along the Nantes á Brest canal and the river Oust. This area has much to offer the outdoor enthusiast, with canoeing, kayaking and boating activites along the river, rock climbing at the beautiful Ile aux Pies, and miles of tow paths for cycling and walking nearby.


• The pretty town of La Gacilly is only 5km away, and offers many shops restaurants and other amenities including a weekly market. This town is a favourite for lovers of art, with its many art and craft studios owned by local artists.


• The medieval town of Vannes, situated on the edge of the Golfe de Morbihan is only 45 minutes drive away. The towns of Rennes and Nantes are both within 1 hours drive.


• The south coast of Brittany is littered with beautiful beaches from secluded bays around the Golfe de Morbihan to the lively resort of La Baule, recently voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. These are within 45 minutes to an hour from the house.
