Gardens The gardens of the two houses are currently joined: a separate paved drive leads to each. To the right of the house, past the integral stone workshop, is an area containing a set of swings; to the left of this is a flower-covered fence with a gate that leads to the back garden and the pool.  As a safety measure, access to the back garden and the pool is confined to this and the back door of the house.  There is an area at the back of the house shaded by fruit trees and a weeping willow, through which a path leads to the pool – sited in an area that catches the sun all day, and surrounded by paving.  This is extended at the front to provide an additional terrace that is excellent for barbecues.  An important feature of the back garden is that it offers a very considerable degree of privacy.

The wood and quarry About four hundred metres from the property, and included in the sale, is a wood with a quarry in it – probably the source of the stone from which the houses were built. This accounts for some 9,000 square metres of the 10,400 square metres (about 2½ acres) for sale, the remaining 1,400 square metres (a little over two-thirds of an acre) being taken up by the house and gardens. The quarry is not used; the wood, however, can provide an energetic chain-saw-equipped owner with a with an inexhaustible source of free fuel for the wood-burning stove and the Rayburn cooker.
