Description

This superb villa is called “le Pré the la Fontaine” and stands directly beside the splendid park of Saint Honoré les Bains, a small village in the south of the Morvan.

Morvan

The Morvan is a national park in Burgundy. This thinly populated area lies between the Loire (Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé) and the Saone (Beaune and Meursault) and at the south of the Chablis. Originally the capital was Bibracte which layed in the middle of the bunches on the Mont Beuvray (821m).

Vercingetorix was the local leader, 52 jr for christus, when Julius Ceasar wrote his “Commentarii the bello Gallico". Later the Romen concentrated more at the rivers where they made the Roman city of Autun.

The south side of this beautifull nature area characterises itself by many hills, hedges, Charolais cows and beautiful wide views.

Saint Honoré les Bains

This beautiful village (www.st-honore-les-bains.com) is famous because of its natural water source. The village is in origin not different from other farmers villages in the Morvan. But after in the nineteenth century an on watersource based healthcentre was started, with beautiful parks, many hotels, a casino, large houses and many sport facilities, among which 7 tennis courts (gravel and hardcourt) the village has become very stylish. In times of the Charleston up to approximately 1930 especially many Parisians went to this luxuriously location for holiday, slowing down and curing from diseases. People with eczema, psoriasis and asthma profited much in that time from the beneficial strengths of the source. Still in the healthcentre many people are treated and are looked after, also on medical prescription.

Le Pré de la Fontaine

This large house has been built in 1907, on a plot of approximately 9000m2, directly beside the source, by a medical professor who retired from the academic hospital of Paris. He started a private medical practice after his career for rich patients in Saint Honoré les Bains. On this beautiful location he planted a variety of special trees, which are now more than 100 years old and that gives a fantastic environment to the garden. An splendid large oaktree stands in the centre of the garden, surrounded by an red beech, acacias and a lot of other trees. The beautiful terrace lies on the south and has been surrounded by field of lavendel with remember of the Provence and a beutifull field of hortensia's. In the middle of the terrace stands a large albizia. The good performance of this half tropical tree (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albizia) is the living proof of the delicious smooth microclimate in this garden.

The house

This house has been completely restored in 2003. Richmond from “la Machine” has placed an entirely new roof on the house. The whole electricity has been renewed and there is a new central heating installation, working on oil, with thermostatic control on all the radiators.

A Dutch assignee company has built the completely new kitchen and made the double opening doors to the new built terrace with swimming pool. Also the walls, doors and casings are restored and renewed where necessary and thoroughly painted entirely by Dutch experts.

The house has splendid casings, beautiful blue shutters and new sun protecting equipment. There is a beautiful large kitchen Provence style.

Directly at the right there is a playing room for children, approx. 18m2, then the kitchen, approx. 28 m2, with opening doors to the terrace, American frigidaire, dishwasher, cooker with electric furnace and cooker hood. On the committed ground further a big living room, approx. 40m2, with stove, a sleep chamber with bathroom (bath, toilet, wash-hand basin, shower) and a toilet.

On the first floor ther are 3 two person chambers, each approx. 14m2, 1 chamber, 10m2, and 1 very large chamber, approx. 35m2 with 7 clothing cupboards, a bathroom and a toilet.

In the souterrain there is a wine cellar, an outside door to the terrace, the central heating installation, pump and filter installation for swimming pool, gasbottle for kitchen cooker, oil tank for 2000 litres fuel, a wash-hand basin, machines for laundry and drying, a pump for water from own source for sparkling the garden. On the plot there’s a free standing garage. The house has been connected on the sewer and electricity and telephony cables have been recently laid on in this part of the village entirely new under the ground.
