Description

On the edge of a wine village of the Mâconnais, and conveniently close to a very good cave coopérative, this was once a couple of small typical local houses. Now reunited into a single house on different levels, and recently renovated, it has become a comfortable and spacious village house. Steps lead up to a traditional covered balcony (galerie mâconnaise) from which we enter the house. The living room has exposed beams, fine flagstone floor and a stone fireplace. Down a couple of steps to the kitchen, recently modernised, with doors opening onto the balcony ant the rear overlooking the small garden, beautifully maintained, with a view onto the vineyards. To one side a bathroom and WC, to the other, the dining room with another stone fireplace and exposed ceiling beams, and beyond this, two bedrooms. The third bedroom has its own private bathroom. Cellars and laundry room/boiler room (oil central heating) below, attics above. Effort and thought have gone into this renovation (a remark which cannot be made of every house on our books, alas) and the result is there. The garden is modest in comparison to the size of the house, but it has a pleasant shaded area for taking meals outdoors, and does not require the same maintenance as many larger farmhouse-style gardens, a point which will not be lost on many second-home owners.
