FACILITIES AVAILABLE FOR HOLIDAYMAKERS IN THIS UNUSUAL VILLAGE AND THE GENERAL AREA The following are some of the facilities available:- The luxury, privately owned hotel in the village (not part of a chain) has its own 18-hole golf course and driving range. Also available to the general public are the spa facilities at the hotel including massage, beauty treatments, hydrotherapy, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. The indoor and outdoor swimming pools at the hotel are also available to non-residents for a small charge. The hotel’s restaurant is certainly gastronomic, and excellent local food is also served in the village bar. This is certainly a wealthy village: it has street lighting, no overhead electricity wires and also has mains drainage! There are public gardens and public tennis courts available for hire by the hour. In the village are grocers, a newsagents/tabac, a butcher and a hairdresser. The village also has a public lake for carp fishing. There are horse riding facilities close at hand. There are two larger lakes within about 20 miles. Lake Eguzon in the Limousin was created some years ago by damming the river Creuse to provide hydro-electric power and leisure/tourism facilities. This lake which is many miles long offers many activities including pedaloes, speedboats, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing boats and water skiing. There are also several beaches for safe swimming. 20 miles in the direction of the mountains is a village called Sidiailles where there is another large man-made lake for swimming boating and fishing. There are designated routes close-by for cycling, rambling and horse riding.
