Description

About 40 km south of Bastia, our lovely house is situated at 600 meters altitude above the corsican east-coast. It is a 9 km drive away from the coastal town of Moriani plage. The near surroundings are of stunning beauty, with mountains rising up to 1200 meters, shady woods of chestnut trees and typical corsican villages. Nevertheless the coast with ist numerous sport activities is only a 15 minutes drive away. The distance to Bastia, where the main port and airport is situated, is about 45 minutes by car and will be noticeably reduced by the highway that is beeing built at the moment. It will connect Bastia with the nearby town of Folleli. Our house was built in the 16th century out of typical corsican slate stone. It consists of 4 seperate flats, two of which were rented as holiday-flats during the last 5 years. We tried to preserve the ancient character of the house with its magnificent chestnut-beams, the sechoir (chestnut drying floor), stone arches etc. and provided all the comfort that a contemporary house must offer (new floors, new electricity, new water pipes, new sewerage and septic, new doors and partially new windows). The heating runs on electricity and wood. Since the beginning of this year our village is connected to high-speed internet. All energy costs are very low in our region; for example water has only to be paid for 3,5 months in summer. As the house is not connected to a public sewer, the maintainance is also very cheap. The ground-level flat, were we used to live, is about 95 square meters and consists of two rooms, a spacious kitchen , a bathroom, a small cellar and a 27sm terrace. There is a romantic open fireplace in the bedroom, a bread-baking oven, an ancient stone arch in the kitchen and so on... On the first floor is located a holiday flat of 50 sm, with a big bedroom, kitchen and living room and a bathroom. The second holiday flat has about 60 sm and is situated on the first and second floor. It contains a big living room, a kitchen and bathroom as well as two seperate bedrooms. In the cellar, another flat of about 30sm is situated that provides place for 2 to 3 guests. It consists of two rooms and a bathroom. In the cellar there are yet another 90 sm that could be transformed into living space. There you will find an ancient bread-baking-oven and old arched stone ceilings. About 20 meters away from the house is the private garden (ca. 550 sm) in which two guest-terraces are situated from where you can overlook the coastline. On clear days you can even spot the italian coast in the distance. The rest of the property is transformed in our vegetable and fruit garden with apple, plum and abricot trees. As the holiday-flats werde booked very good in the last five years (about 6 months / year), it would be possible to live easily from the rent you can optain. Another possibility would be to rent the whole house. There are yet many other possibilities that our propery can offer. For example it would be possible to build a roof terrace, install a swimming pool and so on...
