Maison Wilson is a traditional three-storey stone-built house around 200 years old with central heating and has been completely rewired by the owner. The internal layout has been altered significantly to provide:
Ground floor: Entry to large Alpine kitchen with chimney place and hearth. A bunkroom to the right hand side provides two, full-size bunk beds. A large dining table can accommodate 8 diners.
At the rear of the kitchen a full width store room exists which provides access to the first floor and storage for household items. The hot-water tank and central heating boiler are also in this room.
The first floor has a large open landing area with a bed-linen press and stairs to access the second floor. The bathroom is located on this floor along with two double bedrooms and a single nursery bedroom leading off one of the double bedrooms.
The second floor is the entire loft area and is a magnificent grenier of 70 square metres. There is a study area off the left hand side, the whole of which is dominated by a huge crown beam trellis that supports the roof. This room has a wood-burning stove, a Bechstein grand piano, Hi-Fi, Wi-Fi broadband, a DVD player and satellite TV. There is a large collection of DVD’s. There is also a dining area with full sideboard, a ping-pong table (full size) and two comfortable sofas with a drinks cabinet/bureau. Access to the terraced garden is through French doors to the rear.
The 270 sq metre garden is reached over the ‘drawbridge’ terrace which serves as a dining area in summer. The oil tank is situated beneath this out of sight and mind. A large barbecue adjoins the terrace and the path from this area skirts the alleyway to the left of the house (access from the lane at the front of the property) and the raised lawn area. Behind this is a semi-derelict outhouse, and behind this is the font that supplies spring water for the garden and plants.
The garden to the right hand side of the lawn, beyond the cherry tree, contains young apple and plum trees. There is space to grow vegetables. There is also a patio area to the right of the outhouse which captures late-summer sun in the evenings. There is access from the garden to the lane at the side of the house, at the top of which paths lead through to the higher reaches and larger streets of the village.
