Charming Renovated House with Mediterranean garden in the Cathar Village of Montreal, in the South-West of France Sleeps 6 (+2 on sofa-couch) (3 Bedrooms).

The house comfortably sleeps 6 people with 3 large rooms, and can also sleep two more on a sofa bed in the lounge. It offers accommodation in one of the most popular and sunny regions of France. Montreal is a popular village, conveniently located just 15 minutes from Carcassonne Airport, where RyanAir flies into from various European destinations. It is located in the Malepere region, known as the Tuscany of South-West France, with its rolling hills, vineyards and sunflowers that bloom in late summer. Just 45 minutes from the beach and the same from the ski slopes, it appeals to people at all times of year.

The house is located on the edge of the village and is just an easy stroll to the bakers, café/bar, restaurant, supermarket. Within a few hundred metres walk, there is a large outdoor swimming pool (includes baby/toddler and children's pool as well) and tennis court, as well as children's playground.

Accommodation
The lounge is large and airy, with ancient wooden beams and a very efficient wood burning stove (for the winter months) - with 2 sofa beds which can be used for extra sleeping arrangements, tv, piano, and plenty of books to read, which leads into a fully fitted modernised kitchen with dishwasher, oven, vitroceramic surface, American fridge and washing machine, plenty of crockery, dishes and kitchen utensils. The separate dining room with original mosaic tiles has French doors opening out onto the terrace and garden. Downstairs toilet and sink. Upstairs, two spacious twin bedrooms with single beds and cupboards, and then the top 2nd floor is the spacious and attractive master bedroom with superb views of the Pyrenees, with double bed and brand new bathroom - with double sinks and corner/circular bath, with built in seat appealing to children.

Outside:
A good sized typical mediterranean garden SE facing, home to 2 olive trees, fig bushes, scented herbs, as well as large tiled terrace and wooden garden shed. On the terrace, we provide a highly efficient gas-run barbeque for all your cooking needs.

The house has been fully renovated, but all old features have been retained, giving it a very charming and rustic feel to it, keeping cool in the summers with tiling and wooden parquet floors throughout, and warm in the winters with our Norwegian wood burner! Located in a village with all amenities, means you can stroll to the shops, to the bar and the restaurant, without having to drive! We also have pharmacy, doctors, dentist, bank with cashpoint all available on foot too, and Montreal's vineyards boast some of the best Chardonnay in the South-West France (having been awarded gold medal), at the Domaine Le Fort.

Our house is available for short term holiday rentals, and also longer term lets for those looking to rent whilst searching for property to buy. Please contact us separately to ask about longer term let prices.

Changeover day
We offer flexibility on changeover days. (Beneficial for lower cost flights). Daily rates available on request. Bed linen and towels are included. The property is cleaned and bed linen/towels changed prior to arrival.

Things to do
The mediterranean coast is 45 minutes drive away from Montreal. You will find excellent beaches at Narbonne Plage and Guissan. Further afield, Canet Plage, the major resort of Perpignan is approximately an hour and a quarter's drive. The closest golf course is Carcassonne which is about 20 minutes drive away - the 9th hole of this course has been named by several golf magazines as the most original in Europe. There are numerous Pyrenean ski resorts within an hour's drive of Montreal. The nearest is approximately 45 minutes away at Mont D'Olmes. Larger resorts can be found at Ax-Les-Thermes, Font Romeau and Andorra and are 1.5 to 2 hours drive. La Cité in Carcassonne is a World Heritage site. A city within castle walls, it offers many shops, bars and restaurants as well as a rich history and spectacular views over the surrounding area. The whole region has a strong Cathar history, with many very interesting places to visit, including, Rennes le Chateau and Montsegur.
