There are also two plumbers, a wood joiner, electricians and a builder. Fanjeaux is a sort after village with 16th c. market place and a Belevedere giving spectacular views over the Lauragais plain. There are beautiful walks directly from the house with views of the Pyrenhees. Annual regular events are organised by the village fete committee. The historic towns of Carcassonne, Castelnaudary and Limoux all approx 20 mins from Fanjeaux. Toulouse and airport 1 hour away. The coast is 1hr away. Spain by motorway 1 3/4 hrs. Andora skiing and tax free goods 1 3/4 hrs. Nearer skiing 50 mins , 3 lakes all approx 3/4 hr. distant and in differing directions, Montbel, Caviere and St. Feriol have been developed as leisure centres with boating, swimming and beaches. I bought the house in 1991 already restored and have lived it in it 11 years. Much of it is light. Since buying I have made the following improvements. An internal staircase has been made to access the cellar. The windows have all been replaced with double glazing. A small roof terrace has been made. The fireplace was knocked out and replaced by a conduit suitable for a wood stove. At the same time the exterior chimney was rebuilt. The shower room has been refurbished. The facade of the house was recently re-faced. The house has been well insulated by the previous owner. It is situated in a quiet street at the lower end of the village.
