La Passiflore does not give you a clue as to what to expect behind the front door. The house is located in a residential neighbourhood, just 1 minute's walk from the Canal de la Robine and less than 10 minutes by foot to the heart of Narbonne, where you will find all shops and services.
The current property was created from a traditional town house and a workshop, the whole imaginatively converted. A long corridor leads you to the large open-plan living room, past a guest WC. This room was once a motor repair shop, and is now transformed into stylish and spacious accommodation, perfect for a relaxing holiday. Ahead of you is the sitting area, with comfortable sofas.
To the left is dining area, which is equipped with a large oval table and chairs and behind it the fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, Microwave oven, electric cooker and oven, toaster, coffee maker, fridge freezer). A door leads from the kitchen to the utility room where there is a washing machine and tumble dryer, and from there into the garage, equipped with automatic doors.
From the living room three sliding windows give access to the outside. The terrace which runs the length of the living room is shaded by a pergola, and furnished with table and chairs. The south facing garden is walled in and provides shady corners throughout the day.
The living room is dominated by the sculptural steel staircase, which was specially made for this house. From the half landing the steel steps continue to the master suite above the living room. The bedroom is furnished with a king size bed (160 x 200cm) and night tables, and has a walk in dressing room. The bathroom next door is equipped with a bath tub, twin wash basins, WC and a large shower cabin.
From the half landing take the stairs to the left, which take you to the first floor of the original house. From the television room you have access to three further bedrooms. Two overlooking the street at the front of the property, one equipped with a double bed (140 x 200cm) and built in wardrobe, and the other furnished with two single beds (90 x 200cm) and a built in wardrobe. The third bedroom overlooks the back of the house and is also furnished with a double bed (140 x 200cm) and a built in wardrobe. The bathroom on this floor has a large shower cubicle and a wash hand basin, and there is a separate WC.
The television room is equipped with a flat screen TV, DVD player and satellite receiver. The broadband router is also located here, and allows you to connect to the internet either via ethernet cable or WiFi.
MORE ABOUT NARBONNE AND AREA
Narbonne first came to prominence as the capital of Gallo Narbonnensis or Roman Gaul. Remains from this time are numerous: the Archaeological Museum has Roman mosaics and murals on display, which have been excavated in Narbonne; the Musee Lapidaire has the largest collection of bas relief outside of Rome; the Horreum Romain is an underground storehouse which can be visited, and the Romans left behind the street pattern. The Via Domitia runs right through town and across the built on bridge over the Canal de la Robine. Other epochs have also left their traces, and the town is rich in architectural gems, such as the gothic cathedral, the archbishop's palace, the 19th century market halls or the 17th century town houses.
The market halls are a perfect place to discover French food and drink. The variety of produce is legion and the choice of cheeses amazing. Here you'll also find a bar or two, where you take a break or enjoy a convivial lunch. Across the bridge along the canal is the outdoor market which takes place several times a week.
The canal de la Robine runs right through the centre of Narbonne and invites you to take a leisurely boat ride. A bicycle ride along the towpath in the direction of Gruissan will take you to nature reserves. The closest beaches are Gruissan Plage, Narbonne Plage and St Pierre la Mer, all offering beautiful sandy beaches.
