Maison L'oreneta is a spacious, light & airy 5/ 6 bedroom, traditional wine growers house, packed full of original features. It has been updated & redecorated with new kitchen and appliances. It is situated in the heart of the traditional catalan village Paziols in South West France, 19 miles north west of the Ryanair served airport at Perpignan. The house is currently set up as our family holiday home, however it would be easy to rent – it could also work well as a B&B or simply a beautiful second (or primary!) home. The house is light and airy, with high ceilings, large, spacious rooms set over three floors and retains many original features. There is a large courtyard garden with magnolia tree and a raised sun terrace with views across the village rooftops. On the ground floor there is a games room (with pool table), large dining room leading to a kitchen (complete with new appliances). A sunny lounge with large open fireplace & french doors leading on to the garden. The house is dominated by the stone staircase leading upstairs to 3 large double bedrooms, family bathroom, shower room and a further lounge, which could also be used as a further bedroom. On the top floor there are another two double bedrooms and a large connecting room. There is also a huge attic space with high ceilings, wooden beams – a great opportunity for further development. Views from the top 2 floors look back across the traditional rooftops to the vineyards and hilltop church. Paziols is a pretty and friendly village with a shop, bar, excellent restaurant, childrens playground and well maintained public tennis courts. In the summer the river that runs through the village is dammed to create a large swimming pool. Nestled at the foot of Mont Tauch and surrounded by vineyards, the local villages boast some of the best wines the region has to offer, Paziols has a couple of excellent wine caves open for tasting and buying. Tuchan the larger neighbouring village has further restaurants, hotel, shops, doctor, dentist etc. Paziols is just 35 minutes drive from historical Perpignan city centre with its stunning architecture, busy squares with cafes and boutiques. Perpignan also has plenty of white, sandy beaches nearby to choose from. Other local attractions include beachfront restaurants, aqua fun park, marinas, oyster farms, safari park and a variety of quality golf courses. The village is a short drive from Perpignan airport. Other airports within a 2 hour drive of the house are Gerona airport 1.5 hours, Carcasonne 1.5 hours, Toulouse 2 hours and 2.5 hours from Barcelona. The skifields of the Pyrenees mountains are 1.5 hours away.
