Le Château d'Albignac. Now Reduced - not to be missed!

Birthplace of the colourful Baron d'Albignac, who defeated the British at the Battle of Pondicherry in 1783, this 18th century maison de Maitre is steeped in history. This unique family home is close to the charming town of Le Vigan, which boasts two supermarkets, a bustling market on Saturday and a classical music festival every summer. In the heart of the peaceful village of Arrigas, the house benefits from being tucked away in a private courtyard, with the former ramparts now forming an imposing terrace overlooking the square. The house provides spacious accommodation: four generously sized double bedrooms (one of 10x5 metres could easily be divided in two), a large living room with sitting room with feature fireplaces, a kitchen, bathroom and three terraces. The three cellars date from an even earlier period, offering extensive storage space. We have owned the house since 1988 and it has been a comfortable and much loved base for family holidays for three generations of our family and many friends. It offers an ideal base for exploring the Cathar castles and other historic sites; wonderful walks, horseriding and kayaking  are on your doorstep, while the stars at night are magnificent and the unpolluted air will delight your lungs.
