The location:
Pezenas is a small and pretty medieval town of the Herault department in Languedoc-Roussillon, southern France. Pezenas appears to be caught in a time warp with a vast array of beautifully preserved buildings, antique shops, cobbled streets, quiet courtyards and beautiful period architecture. It has a total of 70 historical listed buildings. Once home to 17th century playwright Moliere, the theatre tradition and artisans carry on living with year-round performances, workshops and late-night craft markets. Pezenas’s mild winters, year round market, long warm summers, medieval heritage, and urban sophistication make it the perfect place to buy a second home, close to the Mediterranean. Like many small towns in the region, it has a vibrant wine industry, but also a sweet industry to visit. Apart from sightseeing and visiting, this old town offers many theatres and cinemas. Within a short drive of Pezenas there is a plethora of must see destinations including sandy beaches, wooded hills and valleys old market towns, thriving fishing villages and quaint vineyards. Beaches are 20 minutes away, Beziers: 30 minutes, Carcassonne 80 minutes, Perpignan, 75 minutes, Montpellier, 45 minutes.

By train: The nearest main line station is Agde. The fast and efficient TGV train service from Paris stops in Montpellier. Alternatively, Motorail has a train service going from Calais to Narbonne.

By air: The nearest international airport is Beziers Cap d'Agde Airport. Since 2008, international services to the UK and Denmark have been established. Montpellier, Nimes, Perpignan and Carcassonne are all within easy reach. A number of airlines fly into the surrounding airports. Ryanair is now flying into Beziers, while Montpellier is serviced by Ryanair and easyJet. Pezenas has regular bus connections to Beziers.
