This gite, with use of private lake for fishing, is situated in the Haute-Vienne, in the heart of the truly picturesque countryside of the Limousin. Set on private farmland of 15 acres with woods and meadows but within 9 km of the N145 main route from Poitiers. The Haute Vienne is a department where traditions are still very much part of daily life. A particular attraction lies in the variety of its landscapes, which range from wooded slopes of the Basse-Marche to the rugged peaks of the Grands Monts. Here you can savour the beauties of nature at a leisurely pace on foot, on horseback or by bicycle, and on the way discover the picturesque charm of the little known villages such as Mortemart, Blond and Nedde. You will be surprised by the number of Romanesque chapels, fortified churches, chateaux and sturdy castles, not to mention the warm hospitality of the regions many family-owned inns. Of course a visit to Limoges is essential. The capital of the Limousin region and famous for its fine and unique porcelain. The nearest restaurant is at Mortemart, only 2 kms away and is of a very high standard, there is also a covered market, Chateau de Ducs to visit and Art Exhibitions and Music evenings are often held. The local Auberge at Blond offers excellent value for money and is only 4kms away. Blond is also well known to walkers and cyclists, with mountain bikes available to hire locally. Only 9 km (10 minutes) from the nearest town of Bellac, which has all necessary amenities including a selection of supermarkets, banks, post office, chemists and bakers, together with a variety of restaurants and an outside swimming pool. Water sport enthusiasts will find all they need in the well-equipped beached lakes to utilise their energy, or just relax. Many lakes being ideal locations for fishing as are the lovely rivers in the area. The Gite is set in private grounds of 15 acres of farmland. There is a small lake where you are free to fish, if that is your passion (up to 20lb carp - mirror and common) or you can explore the woods and meadows and experience the wonderful sights and sounds of the wildlife. The Gite's accommodation is all on the ground floor and is suitable for the disabled with wide doorways and accessible fittings. It has been traditionally renovated with exposed beams, and has a large open plan room used as a lounge and kitchen/dining room with traditional furnishings and is equipped with, gas cooker, fridge/ freezer and microwave. Use of washing machine is available on site. A wood-burning stove has been added for out of season lets. There is a adequate seating for 6 in the lounge, and refrectory table and 3 chairs and bench. The bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash hand basin and toilet. There are two bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with twin beds (although it could be possible to have 2 double bedroom instead. Evening meals can also be supplied by prior arrangement - 4 course meal with wine 15 euros per person. There is a lovely tiled patio area to the front of the Gite with garden furniture and parasol, and a B.B.Q is supplied The location of the Gite is 9km (10 mins) drive from the N145 (which is the main route through from Poitiers to Limoges). You will need to take the D675 towards St. Junien before you get to Bellac. By train the nearest T.G.V. station is Poitiers, where you can then change to local railway to Bellac (15 mins) or Limoges. (40 mins) By air there are now direct flights from Stansted Airport, London to Poitiers and also to Limoges, being operated by Ryanairlines and there is car hire available at the airport. Poitiers is approximately 1 hours drive away, and Limoges which is 20 minutes
