MAISONFORGE - thought to be the home of one La Poumeroulie’s nine blacksmiths, is a traditional two bedroomed detached stone cottage, set in the rural, working village of LA POUMEROULIE. The village is ideally situated, being on the southern edge of the beautiful Limousin, with its rolling countryside and an abundance of lakes and rivers with many opportunities for walking, cycling and a variety of water sports on the beautiful lakes. There are man-made beaches for swimming and sailing at St Mathieu (15 mins) , St Estephe (25mins) and Rochechouart to name but a few. The edge of the Dordogne is 15 minutes away with its many beautiful chateaux and other places of interest. The local villages of Cussac (5mins), Champsac (5mins) and Oradour sur Vayres (10mins)offer a selection of restaurants, bars and shops including butchers, bakers and a supermarket at both Cussac and Oradour. There are local markets at Piegut (Wed), Rochechouart (Fri) and a large Saturday market at the bustling town of Thiviers in the Dordogne on Saturdays (30mins). As well as an indoor market in Limoges and a Friday market in Aixe Sur Vienne where you can also spend the morning visiting the china shops.
Maison Forge itself offers spacious accommodation to a very high standard. The cottage benefits from having recently undergone complete renovation by its interior designer owners and having featured a couple of years ago in ‘Our Place in the Sun’. It comprises two good sized double bedrooms, each accessed via its own staircase, one with an en-suite wc and basin, with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a large well equipped kitchen dining room with a breakfast bar ,as well as seating around the dining table for 6+. There is a separate living room with a woodburner sofa and easy chairs, together with a television for the showing of videos and DVDs. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with a wc, and a small bath with powerful shower mixer over and shower curtain. Outside the property is a small area of lawn with table and chairs for al fresco dining and there is sufficient parking for 2/3 cars.
