The cottage is situated in a quiet hamlet called La Favinie which is close to the Chateau de Brie approximately 30 mins south west of Limoges. The nearest town of Cussac has a local supermarket which is open on Sunday mornings and the nearest Bar/Restaurant is only 10 minutes walk away from the cottage and is situated opposite the Chateau de Brie, a fortified house of around 1500 in Gothic 'flamboyant' style. The cottage has been tastefully renovated to a very high standard, and would be ideal for a large family. On the ground floor there is a large lounge with comfortable sofas and a dining area with pine table and chairs, a wood burning stove for out of season lets, DVD player and C.D/Radio player. A door leads off to the separate kitchen (also with a small dining table and chairs) which is fully equipped with gas hob, electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer. A door from the kitchen leads out on to a secluded garden with patio, (where you will get the morning sun) barbeque and garden furniture. Further gardens and garden furniture are available for use also. There is a superb heated swimming pool ( 8m x 4) which has a clear water system that eis cleansed with an electric sterilizer, so no chlorine is used. It has a jet at the step end which opens for use as a spa, and a night light for evening entertaining. The pool is set in a lovely paved area with surrounding lawns, has sun loungers for relaxation and a gazebo cover for shade, and for the more energetic - a grassed area for playing badminton. Also on the ground floor there are 2 bathrooms, one with a large walk in shower, wash hand basin, bidet, toilet and electric heater, and another with bath (shower over), toilet and wash hand basin. On the first floor there is large double bedroom with lovely antique furniture, another double bedroom and a twin bedroom with full size single beds and enough room to put a small child's bed if required (up to 4 years old) in any of the bedrooms. There are many places to visit in the area, and you will find brochures and guides at the cottage. Only 15 minutes drive you will find the Chateau de Montbrun, you must also follow the trail of Richard the Lion Heart and visit Chalus, only a short distance away. On Wednesday morning you can visit the market at Piegut-Pluviers one of the oldest and biggest street markets in France, just park anywhere! Of course a visit to Limoges, the capital of the Limousin, famous for its porcelain and enamel is essential. A very popular tourist attraction is Oradour sur Glane a village that was destroyed by the Germans in 1944 but has been left as a memorial to those that were massacred. Well worth a visit, but take a hankie. Watersport enthusiasts will find all they need in the well-equipped beached lakes to utilise their energy, or just relax. Many lakes being ideal locations for fishing as are the lovely rivers in the area. A good day trip is Bussiere Galant where there is a lake with a small beach and crazy golf, and there is also velorail which is well worth a trip if it is dry. How Do I get there? The location of La Favinie is approximately 1 hours drive from the A20 (which is the main route through from Paris to Toulouse) or 30 minutes from Limoges Airport. By air there are now direct flights from Stansted Airport and Liverpool Airport to Limoges being operated by Ryanairlines, with Nottingham (East Midlands) also being available from March, 06 and Southampton to Limoges now being operated by Flybe. Car hire is available at the airport.
