Our caravan is situated in a small village just 2.5km from Oradour sur Vayres. It has 3 bedrooms, fitted kitchen, dining area, bathroom with shower and a lounge. It is situated in a private, secure garden unlooked by any neighbouring properties which will ensure a peaceful and relaxing holiday yet we are within easy reach of plenty to see and do. This is an ideal base to explore the varied attractions within the Haute-Vienne and Limousin.

The caravan itself has an open plan lounge with LCD TV leading to the dining area and kitchen. The well equipped kitchen consists of a gas hob and oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and coffee percolator.

We offer 3 bedrooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds with storage and hanging space. There is also a small bathroom with shower.

Within the private garden you will find an apple and a cherry tree, in the right season you can help yourself!

Rochechouart Chateau and the land of the meteorite (9km)
The name, Rochechouart is pronounced ‘Rosh-esh-wah’ from the rock (roche in French) on which it is built. The castle, now a centre for modern art and housing a collection of the work of Raoul Haussman, dominates the town and overlooks the pretty Graine valley. The romanesque and gothic church famous for its unusual twisted spire is also of great historical interest and it houses a museum of sacred art. Nestled amongst the narrow streets and stone and half-timber houses with their window boxes full of flowers, you will find the Meteorite museum. This is dedicated to the six billion ton meteorite, one of the largest ever to hit the earth, which fell in this area 214 million years ago. The buildings of Rochechouart are largely constructed with stone from this meteorite which the locals call ‘moonstone’, giving 'the countryside of the meteorite' a very distinctive character. It is from this moonstone that Les Trois Chenes is built.

Golfing & Fishing
If you enjoy fishing, then this is the area for you. There are also two golf courses within half an hour of Rochechouart and an outdoor activity centre at Massignac. You can swim in the lakes, or in the brand new baths at St Junien, about 15 minutes drive from Rochechouart were you will also find an 18-hole golf course meanders through the rolling hills of the Limousin. This peaceful setting with it’s interesting stretches of water, impeccable greens and difficult slopes still challenges golfers of all skill levels. There is also a driving range for those who want to practice their swing. There are three swimming lakes with beaches, play areas and cafés within 15 minutes drive of Rochechouart. The largest one, Videix lake, has a nautical centre where you can hire sailing boats, wind surfs, kayaks, pedalos and canoes at very reasonable rates. Enjoy a glass of wine or a pleasant meal and watch the sun set over a still lake surrounded by the Limousin countryside. The whole area is well served by many short and long distance footpaths and bridleways, making it ideal for walking, pony trekking and cycling. Festivals are part of the culture! The town celebrates its history in a week-long medieval festival in the summer, where whole pigs are spit-roast in the street for the evening banquet, (you can join in!), and you can see jousting, singing, dancing and wolves and ancient breeds of hunting dog in the streets.


Parc Bellevue (32km)
A traditional adventure style amusement park with water slides as well as other rides, go-karting and a zoo. Good fun and great for younger children. There is a cafe serving hot food and drinks.

Oradour sur Glane (27km)
A few kilometres north of Limoges is the village of Oradour sur Glane, totally destroyed by the Nazi's in the Second World War, 642 men, woman and children massacred by a German Panzer Division having confused the town with Oradour sur Vayres. Ruined remnants of the former village still stand as a memorial to the dead and a representative of similar sites and events, even down to a rusty old car. Its museum includes items recovered from the burned-out buildings: watches stopped at the time their owners were burned alive, glasses melted from the intense heat, and various personal items and money. All visitors are requested to remain silent while visiting the martyred village.

Oradour sur Vayres (2.5km)
Lovely little quaint village where you will find everything you need, supermarket, pharmacy, bars, restaurants, and a weekly market. The fair of Saint-Christophe is the last weekend of July, four days and four nights of madness, music and animations.

Saint Mathieu (8km)
Man made beach
The lake at Saint Mathieu is a perfect spot for swimming, fishing, sailing or simply relaxing and sunbathing on the man made beach. There is also a bar and restaurant on the lake offering excellent value for money.
