Fontenay le Chateau is a very small French town in the Vosges area, situated at 250 m above sea level and surrounded by large areas of woodland and fields, 30 km away from Epinal. All amenities: post office, tabac/paper shop, bakery and small supermarket + 2 bars. Convenient for River Saône and marina on the Corre river (12 km away). Excellent climate. 1h/1 and a half drive away from ski resorts and not far (2 h drive) from Switzerland. Bains-les-Bains (6km away) has large supermarkets and more shops etc.. TGV trains/ motorway at Epinal. Local taxes are reasonable on small houses (€ 400 in total) There are English/Dutch/German/Swiss people with houses here, now even a Parisien! It's becoming an European town - a beautiful place to live. The house comprises: large cellars and workshop/toolshed and car park for at least 4 cars on a quiet country lane. Repairs to be undertaken: modern electrical system, + modern plumbing + some plastering and woodwork for floors etc.. Local builders available Ground Map: The large plot B is suitable to build a bungalow (I have been told by the Maire himself and have the papers - but have not gone through the process). This plot is in a wonderful position: views of the valley and harbour - Google Earth will show the areas and the houses. etc..
