Village house in Combret, Aveyron, Midi Pyrénées. A charming old stone house in the medieval village of Combret; a hidden treasure in this beautiful unspoiled part of France. A secret medieval hill town with little streets nestling in rolling countryside, houses with the thick stone walls redolent of the Midi Pyrenees. A land with a chequered history in both old and modern times. Large airy comfortable rooms with beams and wooden floorboards, and thick stone walls ensure that you will stay cool even in the warmest summer. Newly installed heating and a wood fire will ensure your warmth if you visit in cooler seasons. There are two bedrooms, both with double beds one also with a high bunk bed. The two share the main bathroom which is ensuite to the first. Around the village runs the river Rance where one may fish or swim in clean water. In the region of “Les Rougiers” Combret is surrounded by stunning scenery making this a walker's paradise with an opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, beautiful flowers and fauna and a wonderful selection of bird species rarely found in the UK. There are beautiful lakes 40 minutes away with facilities for swimming or watersports. Canoeing also available at Trébas (River Tarn) Small shops and restaurants and cafés are a 15 minute drive away in the nearby towns of St Sernin and Belmont, as are tennis, riding, go karting, gliding and public swimming pools. The larger towns of Millau and Albi (60 minute drive) offer larger shopping and visit possibilities. Don’t forget to see the Millau viaduct and visit the Roquefort caves.
