Come and experience a real taste of Gascon town life whilst staying in our lovely, recently renovated, light, airy first floor apartment. This is located on a quiet side street and within a 13th century building with a magnificent ancient stone spiral staircase and fabulous carved gothic entrance. This building , the ''Ancien Senechal''', dates back to the 1300's and was used as the judicial centre, for the entire region.The apartment is approached via a stone spiral staircase and comprises a very large kitchen/ dining area with seating for up to ten individuals. It is a wonderful environment to create lovely dishes from the delicious local produce you can buy in the market and the tempting local shops. The Friday Market, is a stones throw away and you may be woken in the morning by the smell of baking bread and patisserie from one of the five boulangeries. There is a modern bathroom with bath,separate shower and lavatory. There is a magnificent 19th century salon to relax in with high ceilings and vast windows. The double bedroom has a period, very comfortable double bed and large window. The entire apartment is furnished and decorated with a mix of antiques. There are electric radiators throughout, an 'Ipod' docking station, books, maps and games available. There are two small upper and lower outdoor dining areas to enjoy al-fresco dining along with a small BBQ.
The apartment sleeps two adults with an option to sleep a further two individuals on a sofa bed in the salon. In view of its location and the architecture of the building , it is not considered suitable for young children and individuals who have an impairment which may limit their ability to use the spiral staircase. We would consider it the perfect place for a sophisticated and relaxing reteat for individuals who love history, food, architecture, countryside and a real Gascon experience.

Lectoure (www.lectoure.fr) is a fortified historic Gallo-Roman hilltop town, situated in the magnificent undulating countryside of the Gers, on the route of St Jacques de Compostel. The ancient city was the principal residence of the Counts of Armagnac. It is an historic and thriving town with wonderful architecture, varied shops, lively bars, museum, cinema and restaurants to suit all tastes. As a spa town it has an newly developed luxury spa offering a full range of therapeutic and beauty treatments. Here you can while away an afternoon floating in the delicious hot water-and only 200 yards from the apartment! If you would prefer a little more exercise, the municipal swimming pool with it's view if the Pyrenees is a real treat.
For lovers of nature, the surrounding countryside is perfect for idyllic walks and picnics or more energetic cycle rides. For lovers of food and wine, Gascony and the Gers is legendary for its wonderful produce and cuisine. For more lively entertainment during the summer season, there are regular night markets and street parties in Lectoure and the surrounding villages-not to be missed to get a real taste of Gascon hospitality.
Lectoure is readily accessible by road, rail and air. The TGV goes direct to Agen and is linked by a short bus ride to lectoure. Accessible airports include: Toulouse, Carcasonne, Pau, Bergerac, Bordeaux and Rodez. If arriving by car, there is free onstreet parking outside the house or ample free minicipal parking 3 minutes away.
