Description

The Studio flat in Ste Marie de Campan is a small but beautifully formed apartment on the first floor of a purpose built complex. It sits as a part of the "Vieux Village" development of apartments, probably the newest building in this old mountain village. Ste Marie de Campan is mid way between Bagneres-de-Bigorre and La Mongie/Barages, the biggest ski resort in the Pyrenees outside of Andorra. The Tour de France normally runs through the village in all its excitement bringing show and drama to the normal tranquility. I bought the Studio as a very convenient, easy to maintain, cheap to run, compact place to stay for short breaks and holidays. I go there on occasions like half term to get my five year old skiing. I have enjoyed rental income from mainly Brits who are exploring the area or skiing in the local resort. The price of 40,000 euros represents great value for money. The studio currently has a double sofa bed and bunk beds so will sleep two adults and two children (or four adults at a push). There is a bathroom with bath overhead shower, wash basin and loo. The water is hot. The cooking area has hob rings and an electric mini oven, fridge and sink. There's a dining table and chairs and a TV and a balcony where you can sit and take in the mountain views. From 1999 to 2003 I lived on and off in the valley and enjoyed it's unique brand of life style. You can read about my "love affair" with the valley and France in "French Letters - a journey to at least three places". The book is available via Amazon. There are lots of things to see and do in the region and the local restaurants and bars all offer their own brands of unique hospitality. The Studio flat would make a good investment in French bricks and mortar and is probably cheaper than a decent caravan! The outgoings are minimal and more than covered by the rental every year.
