Description

A unique and historically important original stone windmill dating back over 200 years and converted in the 60's by a famous local craftsman. It is known to be the only windmill converted by Robert Tatin whose museum dedicated to his work is close by. There is great detail in the conversion with oak folding floors and stairs, necessary for moving furniture from floor to floor with ease. Each of the 5 floors are circular and provide one room per floor. All rooms are approximately 13m². All stairs open at the top with an oak trap door, working on a pulley and weight system.

The windmill was owned by the nearby farm until the then farmer gave it to his mistress Madame Fromage in order that she could always be near him. It was then converted into living accomodation with the architecture and wooden work undertaken by Robert Tatin himself.

The windmill lost its sails in a storm in the 1960's which benefits the property in allowing the top floor to be used as a bedroom. This property is isolated and boasts panoramic views over the local countryside. The windmill sits on its own plot of land of approx 1700m² which offers old oak trees and grassland. The property is surrounded by pastureland.

The windmill is accessed of a country lane which stops short of the property. Therefore a grass track leads up the hill to the property and into the flat garden. The property is accessed with steps up to the large oak door opening into the kitchen with tiled floor. This room boasts exposed timbers, oak doors, oak stairs and feature stone walls. The kitchen work area is very rustic and requires updating.

The steep oak stairs lead to the living room, providing three windows all offering oak inside shutters, exposed beams, oak flooring, oak doors, feature stone walls and a fireplace.

Steep oak stairs lead to bedroom 1, again with exposed timbers, feature stone walls, oak flooring, oak doors for storage cupboards, and three windows offering oak inside shutters.

Steep oak stairs lead to the bathroom again offering exposed timbers, oak flooring, and feature stone walls. There is one window and one stable door, which used to serve as the grain hatch. The bathroom provides a bath, wash hand basin and WC.

Finally an oak ladder leads up to the top floor, which is clad in pine, but boasts the original exposed oak beams. The dormer windows provides spectacular far reaching views over the garden and way beyond.Mains water and electricity are connected as

The property is sold furnished as is ready to move into. Mains water and electricity are connected. Telephone and satellite television are also in place.
