Situated in the hamlet of Siclon on the edge of the medieval village of Bazoges en Pareds, Le Petit Oliver accommodates up to seven people in three bedrooms. The house has views over the large gardens and towards the swimming pool.
Le Petit Oliver is available all year round and accepts small dogs.
Originally, this house belonged to the quarry master of the village and his family, Le Petit Oliver is now a beautiful three bedroom house, complete with all modern conveniences. There is ample parking besides the house for several cars.
The house looks to the south and has lovely views across the mature gardens. In front of the house is a private terrace - ideal for dining al fresco or to relax on after a hard day of sightseeing. There is a built-in barbecue, table & chairs, and a parasol for those warm summer evenings.
There is an 8m x 4m above ground swimming pool in the garden surrounded by a decking area. The garden also has several sun loungers and a picnic table for your comfort. The swimming pool is securely fenced off. The swimming pool is for sole use of guests to the house and the owners who live in a separate house along the driveway.
There is also a children's play area close to the pool - with swings, climbing ropes and a sand pit.
You enter the house through the large kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle & toaster. There is enough crockery & cutlery for seven guests and the dining table can seat six.
From the dining area, the double doors lead into the comfortable living room, where you will find a TV, a DVD player & stereo, along with a stove for those long winter evenings. The house has a secure WiFi network, so if you bring your laptop on holiday you will still be able to pick up your emails or surf the internet.
The three bedrooms are located on the first floor. The master bedroom has large double bed and pine furniture and has lovely views over the garden. The second bedroom also has a double bed and the third bedroom has bunk beds and a further single bed.
In the hallway you will find a large bookcase with lots of holiday reading and there is also a fold-up single bed that can be used for an extra guest.
There is a bathroom with a double basin, WC, bath with shower and a separate shower.
All bed linens are provided, but please bring your own towels and beach towels.
Location
Le Petit Oliver is approximately a 3 hour drive from St Malo, 5 hours from Cherbourg or 7.5 hours from Calais. There are good motorway links nearby. The airports at both Nantes and La Rochelle are approximately a 1 hour drive away and car hire is available from these locations.
Local Attractions
Le Petit Oliver is situated in a small hamlet on the outskirts of the historic medieval village of Bazoges-en-Pareds, which is famous for its magnificent Donjon (Keep). The village is well served with a bar, boulongerie, chemist, grocery store and an excellent and very popular restaurant.
The area surrounding the house is a haven for birds and wildlife, and it is only 10 minute drive to a nearby leisure lake, where you can picnic or fish.
You can also swim there in the summer months. There is another lake nearby with two restaurants. Kayaks & canoes are available to hire in the summer months. There are many opportunities in the area for horse-riding, fishing, cycling, boating etc. and we are happy to advise on any aspect of your holiday. There are many ancient and historic towns and villages to visit and below we have listed several of the main attractions.
The Aquarium, La Rochelle
A holiday is not complete without a visit to the historic city of La Rochelle, with its Old Port and arcaded shopping streets. The Aquarium is also a must-see! 1 hour by car.
Venise Verte
The Marais Poitevin is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with miles of canals and pretty waterside villages to explore. Boats can be hired for the morning to get a unique view of the landscape. Only 30 minutes by car.
Faymoreau Mining Centre
Spend a day at this fascinating mining centre where you will be transported back in time to a traditional working mine. Open all year.
Pescalis Fishing Centre
A purpose built fishing complex with lakes and rivers offering all types of fishing, from course to fly. Many other facilities. About 30 minutes by car.
Parc Pierre Brun
A fabulous location in the Mervent Forest, this theme park is ideal for children and adults alike. Only 15 minutes by car.
The Forest of Mervent
A great opportunity for walking, cycling, climbing, boating & swimming in one of the largest forests in Western France. Only 15 minutes by car.
The Beaches of the Southern Vendée
There is a wide variety of beaches to choose from - some for surfing and bodyboarding, some with rock pools and others for sand castles and relaxing.
