The charming bustling market town of Montmorillon is beautifully situated on the banks of the river Vienne. The village dates back to medieval times with an abundance of old beamed houses and picturesque churches. A beautiful old bridge divides the old cite from the new which is also very charming. It's main claim to fame is 'Caligraphy' and antique books. A faire is held each summer in the old cite which attracts visitors from far and wide. There is also an abundance of restaurants, from simply cafes to fine dining. A Mitchelin starred restaurant is in the nearby Abby town of St. Savin. The cities of Poitier and Limoges are but an hour away and Chavigny another medieval town is 20 mins drive.
The town is well served for food shopping etc., with two large supermarkets. Carrefore is 4 kilometres from the house and Le Clerc 7 kilometres.
