View of Menton from the viaduct
The apartment is fully furnished and can be found on the first floor (with lift) living/dining room/fully fitted open plan kitchen, balcony, bathroom (with large bath and shower) and separate WC. The living room has TV, radio/cassette player and a DVD player so I advise visitors to take some of their own DVD's for ther entertainment. It also has a main double-bedroom, a second bedroom with a double bed settee and the lounge also has a bed settee. The apartment is light and airy and fully tiled throughout to a very high standard. The balcony looks out over gardens and up to the mountains. It has a table and chairs and sun loungers and is the perfect place to sun bathe in that it gets the sun in the afternoon and right through to the evening. There is a garage available and a large Italian supermarket is within the block, selling all the basic foods and includes a delicatessan.
Across from the apartment are a number of local shops - a number of patisseries, a butchers, fruit and vegetables, tabaconists and a cash point. Menton itself lies on the Riviera coast to the south east of France, very close to the border with Italy (10mins by train). To the west lies the towns of Monte Carlo (20mins drive) and Nice, both world renowned. Nice is the main airport to fly into with many of the cheaper carriers flying into it from locations throughout the UK. The public transport in this area is second to none with frequent buses, coaches, and trains to all the main locations. Cars can be hired from the airport or in the town itself and there are motorways and coastal roads giving you the most magnificant views of the hill-top towns and views out to the yachts moured in the harbours. Menton itself has it’s own microclimate, the warmest area of the entire French Riviera in winter, protected from the mistral winds by the half-circle of mountains behind it. This means that it is a good winter holiday destination with the hottest months of July and August temperatures reaching 30 degrees.Lemon and orange trees bear fruit all year in almost all of the town's streets, and its lavish gardens blossom during most seasons. It is well known for the Lemon Festival which takes place during 3 weeks of February which is a celebration of Spring. There are processions - floats, dancers etc. and events throughout the town with a huge themed display in the main gardens in the centre of the town. The town has a web site that describes all the facilities, but it is very well known for its restaurants, harbours, shops, markets, casino and gardens within the town and throughout the whole area.
