Originally built as a 20-bedroom hotel, the lodge has since been completely renovated and converted into a private residence for use by family and friends and is located just 7 minutes from the centre of Chatel on the bus route for skiers.

The Lodge is set in beautiful scenery with breathtaking views between Abondance and Chatel in the Portes du Soleil region, which is an area of fourteen interconnected ski resorts from Mont Blanc in France to Lake Geneva in Switzerland. All levels of skiing and snowboarding are catered for on its pistes, which number in excess of 200 and span roughly 650kms. Les Portes du Soleil receives snow well into springtime and so has a long winter season, with spring being a favourite time to visit due to the good snowfall in sparkling contrast against the crisp blue skies. However, once the snow has melted, there are myriad activities to enjoy in the region including mountain biking, walking or hiking, horse riding, archery, paragliding, climbing and many more. Visitors can also enjoy a good nightlife in the many bars and clubs in the area as well as a varied and almost endless choice of cuisine in the numerous bistros and restaurants.

The easiest route to the region is to fly to Geneva and then take a bus or car from there. The nearest TGV station is Thonon-les-Bains and from there a bus is available to the Abondance Valley, which includes Abondance, Chatel and the Chapelle d’Abondance. By road, the journey from Calais to the region is approx. 900kms.
