Annecy itself is the capital town of the Haute Savoie region. It lies on the northwest edge of the lake that is itself the second largest in France. It is a picturesque medieval town surrounded by mountains and criss-crossed by ancient canals, beautiful bridges that are adorned with flowers, and pretty arched alleyways. Apart from sight-seeing, Annecy offers many leisure activities including water sports on the lake, hikes and nature walks in the mountains and surrounding area, cycling, paragliding and much more.
With winter resorts like Chamonix and Megève nearby there is plenty for everyone to do all year round.

Annecy airport is just 10 minutes from the town and Geneva can be reached in less than half an hour. The TGV station is in Annecy and it is also well served by the major motorway network.
