St Gervais les Bains was a beautiful elegant spa town, popular at the turn of the century with chic Parisians. In summer they came to ‘take the waters’ and the fresh mountain air. In winter they came to ski. It is still very French, (although the English are coming!). A complete new lifestyle choice - the town boasts individually owned shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Linger over coffee and a newspaper in sunshine at a pavement café whilst taking in the magnificent massif of Mont Blanc with its eternal snows towering above the town, before shopping for local produce at the weekly market.
