Thollon les Memises is a lovely French Alpine village at 1000m with panoramic views overlooking Lake Geneva and Switzerland, plus a wonderful backdrop of the spectacular Memises Mountains. Apart from the magnificence of its surroundings this growing village offers both residents and visitors an almost unlimited choice of activities and places to visit throughout the year.

Its location is hugely advantageous compared to that of most mountain resorts. Up-market Geneva is 50 minutes away a time that will be reduced by 15 minutes when the new Thonon by-pass is completed later this year! Its International Airport serves all regions in the UK and elsewhere in Europe with dozens of (many low-cost) flights daily, enabling easy access to Thollon les Memises.

Just consider the wonderful selection of internationally-renowned French & Swiss resorts around the lake, Montreux, Lausanne etc, all within easy reach –the Swiss border is only 20 minutes drive away – offering excellent all-year-round facilities. In summer, spring & autumn the towns & villages with their varied and beautiful attractions and beaches are unique & great fun to explore. Our nearest town is the world-famous floral spa town of Evian-les-Bains, just 15 minutes ‘down the mountain.’ It has endless spa, cultural and sporting facilities including a championship golf-course, excellent sailing and beaches.

For winter skiing enthusiasts wishing to sample the numerous resorts in easy reach of Thollon, it takes just 40 minutes to reach the Portes du Soleil, Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel, les Gets, a little longer to the ever popular Chamonix with its all-year round glacier skiing on Mont Blanc. Even famous Swiss & Italian resorts such as Villars, Verbier, Crans-Montana, Gstaad, Courmayeur etc. are only 120 – 180 minutes drive away.

The winter offers good family ski facilities and ski schools, all runs have panoramic views of the lake. The runs are being constantly added to and improved upon with extra snow cannons etc. For non-skiers the flat-topped Memises Mountains offer spectacular walking opportunities throughout the year, whilst larger resorts in France, Switzerland and Italy are within easy access for the more adventurous. Despite, unusually for the Alps, having something for everyone throughout the year, the village retains a local and friendly charm and deserves its reputation as a ‘hidden-secret’, as property prices, while climbing, have yet to approach the dizzy heights of the nearby better-known resorts.
