Description
Summary
Bursting with character these beautiful properties have been restored with love and quality workmanship throughout. Exposed beams and stonework, hand-made staircases and doors, and many original features all add to the charm.
Both the main house and the gite have 2 en-suite bedrooms and the gite currently runs as a successful business. With 3 barns there is no shortage of parking or storage space.
Tucked away behind the original family run farm on the edge of a small hamlet, where the Charente meets the Dordogne and Haute Vienne, this property is totally private and enjoys fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.
The main cottage (approx 120m2 ) sits in the centre of just over 1.5 acres of beautiful gardens and comprises - fully fitted kitchen and dining area with glazed doors out to the garden, utility area, lounge with large feature fireplace and Godin 13.5kw wood-burner. Upstairs are 2 en-suite bedrooms. The main bedroom has doors onto a roof terrace which enjoys beautiful views of the garden and countryside beyond. In addition to the wood-burner there are electric heaters in each room and heated towel rails in the bathrooms.
The gite (approx. 130m2) consists of a spacious fully fitted kitchen, lounge with wood-burner, and staircase leading to the 2 en-suite bedrooms.
Both properties have their own fosse septic, each conforming to current regulations.
Outside, the 8x4m heated pool is surrounded by a peaceful terrace area, the well-stocked gardens provide several seated areas for enjoying the sunshine (or shade) and for taking in the views. The sunset views from here are amazing! There is a large vegetable garden and various fruit trees including Bramley apple, Mirabelle, figs, peaches and walnut.
Although situated in such a peaceful location there are a 2 small villages within 3kms with bar/restaurants, bread shop etc and a number of towns within easy reach including Piegut-Pluviers (approx. 15 mins) which, every Wednesday morning, is host to one of the largest and oldest markets in South-West France. The surrounding areas are perfect for exploring – leisure lakes, rivers, forests and trails offering a wide variety of activities including walking, cycling, golfing (international course just over 10 mins drive), canoeing, horse-riding and go-karting.
Both the cities of Limoges (with regular flights to and from the UK) and Angouleme (with TGV fast train links to Paris, Bordeaux etc) are within a 50 minute drive.
