We have found the locals very welcoming to British expats who want to integrate. This was a strong resistance area during the 1939 – 1945 war.

The Charente has a mixed ocean / inland climate and has the second longest hours of sunshine of all mainland France departments after the Cote d’Azur. The winters are generally mild but severe frosts do occur from time to time.
