Toulouse is one of France’s most vibrant cities. It is often referred to as ‘La Ville Rose’ thanks to the rose-coloured buildings which give the city its famous warm glow. The city centre is a compact warren of winding cobbled streets and is a joy to explore on foot, especially since few cars brave the narrow streets. The Place du Capitole is the heart of the city and there can be few better places to watch the world go by. 

Toulouse is known for its gastronomy and there are no less than 5 Michelin starred restaurants in the city, as well as countless less formal eateries of course. The Victor Hugo covered market is recognised as one of the best produce markets in the whole of France. The city is home to more than 50 art galleries and a dozen major museums, ranging from the cutting-edge to the traditional. The lively music scene ensures that every genre is catered for and there are many live events throughout the year. 

The Canal du Midi runs through the city and this famous waterway adds a tranquility to the place. A gentle journey (by bike, foot or boat) along the tree-lined banks and a picnic provide the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle. 

One of the most attractive aspects of Toulouse is its position. Both Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts are accessible, as are the Pyrenees, Spain and the Basque Country. Toulouse International Airport is 9kms from the city centre and Paris is only 4 hours away by TGV.
