It benefits from a microclimate, sometimes compared to the French Riviera, all due to the Gulf Stream. If you are travelling from the UK there are a number of routes into the region, by air to La Rochelle, by ferry to St Malo or by train from Paris (3 hours).
Faymoreau is in the famous wetland countryside. Back 200 years ago it was something of a mining town and still has an interesting museum which illustrates its industrial past. Shopping is probably best done in Fontenay-le-Comte, which is a drive of about 20 minutes. Fontenay is one of the most beautiful old cities in the Vendee, dating back to medieval times. It has excellent shops, restaurants and leisure facilities.
The house is in an elevated position, above a little used local road. To the front is a large terrace with fine views over the countryside. The garage is below the terrace.
On the ground floor is the entrance hall and staircase. To the left is a fitted kitchen/breakfast room, with a tiled floor and wooden units. There is an integrated oven, dishwasher and hob with extractor. The laundry is done in the cellar below, where the hot water tank, washing machine, dryer and freezer are kept. This keeps the living area free from utilities. To the right of the hall is the sitting room and bathroom. The bathroom has double washbasins, bath, bidet and WC. It is half tiled.
