Property Description
Situated in the heart of the medieval village with beautiful gardens and views over the river and lake, this 2-bed stone house has the potential to create something really quite special.
There is currently an open-plan kitchen diner and sitting room with french doors to the garden and a fireplace and wood-burning stove. With some modernisation and a new lick of paint, the ground floor could be transformed into a bright, open plan living space while upstairs, it would be relatively easy to fit the master bedroom with an ensuite and still retain two good-sized double bedrooms.
The gardens are beautifully landscaped with lawns and well established flower beds. There are various outbuildings including a summer kitchen, workshop and garage. There is also a cellar beneath the house for extra storage.
Officially recognised as one of France’s most beautiful villages, Vouvant is exactly what you imagine when you think of authentic medieval french towns. Surrounded by the verdant countryside of the Vendée, Vouvant is extremely pretty. Situated within a large bend in the river Mere, historical buildings, including the Melusine Tower and ancient 11th Century ramparts and an integral part of the town. Wandering around the quaint little streets and artisan’s workshops, cafés, bars and restaurants are all part of the charm. There is a strong community spirit and the locals are clearly very proud of their town and in July and August there is a wonderful Medieval festival.
If you are keen on outdoor pursuits, there is plenty in the area to enjoy - lots of walking trails, horse-riding, cycling, golf, tennis and the beach is just an hour away for keen swimmers, sailors and surfers.
La Rochelle airport is just over an hour away, and is served by Easyjet, Jet2 and Ryanair. La Rochelle is also a stop on the TGV. The closest ferry port would be Saint Malo which is a 3hr 15mins drive.
