Meanwhile, Mervent forest is the ideal spot for walking, horse-riding and cycling.
Fontenay is 25miles inland from the Vendée coastline. La Rochelle and the stunning Ile-de-Ré are both under an hour away. Poitiers if a one hour drive as is Nantes.
