Property Description
This detached house, with ½ acre of land, has been the much loved home of the current owners for the last 16 years. The construction of random stone under a slate effect roof, is typical of NW Normandy. Its proximity to 3 cross-Channel ferry ports means easy access from the UK for weekend breaks.
Recent renovations mean the new owner will have the benefit of a fitted kitchen, two modern bathrooms (+ 2 separate WC), double-glazed upvc wood effect windows, super master suite, modern septic tank, electric heating and a woodburner. In addition there is a large room, yet to be finished, which could be used as a wonderful light studio/games room/ sitting room.
The property would seem to be attractive as a comfortable second home or as an investment for holiday letting, or a combination of both! It is situated about 3kms from the town of St Martin de Landelles, which has a bakery, post office, supermarket, butcher, school, newsagents, hairdresser, petrol station, garden centre, 2 bars and a restaurant. St Hilaire du Harcouët is little further but is worth the drive, even if it’s just to stock up the larder on a Wednesday when most of the town centre is taken up with the local market.
The area is an ideal base for holidays. You will never be at a loss for things to do. The most famous of all Normandy’s sights, the beautiful Mont St Michel is just around the corner, there are many lovely beaches, horse-riding, golf and fishing. A little further afield is the city of Bayeux, famous for its tapestry of course, and the D-Day Landing beaches and museums. The scenery is stunning and the lakes, waterfalls, parks and playgrounds means there is something for all ages and interests.
Whilst it is possible to fly to Rennes or Dinard, most visitors would use the car ferry ports of Cherbourg, Caen, St Malo or even Le Havre. There is a mainline station at Vire (30 minutes away) with regular trains to Paris taking about 2½ hours.
