Property Description

Rare Opportunity to Acquire an Olive Grove and Old Farmhouse, with Three Acres, Set up in the Hills Overlooking Alès in a Sought after Residential Area, Superb Views, a Haven of Tranquillity…Alès Centre 1 Mile ( all Services and Schools), Nimes 25 …

This large old farmhouse, dating back to the 19th century, with a modern extension, is set high above Alès, in the hills, and at its feet are 285 olive trees, in excellent condition. This building, an old silk farm, is semi-detached, but it is not overlooked, and doesn't appear semi-detached
The olive trees yield between one and five tons of olives a year...the present owner takes them to the local olive mill near Vézénobres, to be processed..this mill wins national competitions every year for its olive oil. The olives are in terraces...faisses...and are very well looked after, and regularly pruned. In the midst of these olives trees you could imagine yourself in the heart of Provence, yet the busy town of Alès is just a few minutes away, on foot or by car. The old dry stone walls have all been repaired. On the terraces there are also cherry trees, walnut and almond trees, fig trees and quince, and a multitude of wild flowers.
The old part of the house has the main entrance, the cellars, five large bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry room and two WCs. Here the heating is electric. There is secondary glazing here.
In the extension (1987) there is a very large sitting room, and kitchen...here the heating is underfloor. Cooking is bottled gas, but it is possible to hitch up to the main town gas system, if preferred. There is double glazing here.
In front of the house overlooking the olive grove is a large full south facing terrace. The house is fully alarmed.
